Export and backup

Sending something out, versus keeping something to come back to

They look similar but they are for different things. One line tells them apart.

Export is for sending to someone or opening elsewhere. Backup is for getting things back later.

Export

Takes a single note out in another format. Open the note and choose Export from the ⋯ menu.

  1. 1PDF. For printing or sending as is
  2. 2Image. Exactly as it looks on screen
  3. 3HyFlow Note. For opening in HyFlow on another device
  4. 4TextBundle. For opening in another notes app, with photos and files included

Export is available on notes in the Trash too.

Import

Writing made in another app can be brought in as a note. Markdown, plain text and TextBundle are all read.

Backup

Bundles everything you have, not a single note, into one file. Create one from Settings > Backup & Restore.

It exists to bring things back when you switch devices or something goes wrong, so other apps cannot open it. There is more in Backup and restore.

Which to use

  1. 1Emailing a note to someone — Export (PDF)
  2. 2Moving to another notes app — Export (TextBundle)
  3. 3Getting ready to switch devices — Backup
  4. 4Undoing something deleted by mistake — Backup

Both export and backup keep working after free access ends.
